Recall is always a big subject, and one everybody asks about. How do I recall my dog from anything, horses, deer or someone’s else’s picnic are common topics people bring up lots of the time.

Our dogs recall on occasion can do anything from embarrassing us ( ask me about Henry and the wheelchair) to putting themselves in real danger, a kick from a horse will do a lot of damage.

Always recall to a happy place.

It the most important part of recall, & I make no apology for banging on, is to always recall to a happy place. After all your dog is enjoying themselves so why would they come back for an angry or unhappy owner – after all would you head for that place? Instead always bring them back and be pleased to see them – no matter how you feel.

Never recall if you’ll be ignored

All you’ll achieve is teaching your dog to ignore you – it’s not a great look. More seriously if you’ve taught your dog to ignore you then getting then to work for you, well, its one issue for us to resolve.

Never Chase

No matter how tempting. All your dog sees is you chasing and barking (shouting). They’ll think this is a good game. If you walk away then your not playing, and your dog will soon recall.
