Puppy Zoomies. Every puppy owner dreads them and nearly every pup has them at some point. The question has ro be why do they happen and understanding the answer to that question is the key to understanding how to help them when they happen and to stop them.
The most common reason for them happening is your pup is overtired. There’s a simple answer to that. Ensure your pup gets more sleep. It’s easy for me to say that but every puppy needs between 18 and 20 hours of sleep every day. Like a toddler you may need to help them to sleep. Teaching them to settle is easy to say and harder to do but very worth the effort.
Give them somewhere safe where they won’t be disturbed is brilliant. You must make sure they aren’t bothered there. That means every member of your household needs to respect this need for space.
Distractions are a good short term method of stopping zooms. Throw a handful of of treats on the floor and let the calm down while they use their nose to hunt for them. Now they’re calmer help them sleep
