Puppy Socialisation

Uncategorized

I hope this isn’t going to be a controversial post. I think it’s an opinion shared by most if not all trainers.

The most important thing that you can do for a new puppy is to socialise them well. That doesn’t mean attending lots of puppy parties at the local vets but instead looking for every opportunity to expose them to new situations – the guy in a cap or with a beard for example.aren’t going to hurt them so let them see that – you’ll have a much better and happier dog. Less afraid too. Decide also whats important to you. If the school run or walking past a busy train station during rush hour.

A puppy’s most important period for socialisation is the first 4 months of life. There is an awful lot going on during that time. Don’t loose it. If you have t buy a bag and carry puppy round with you will pay so many dividends.
