Limber (or swimmer’s) Tail

Uncategorized

Limber tail can be distressing to see. It’s normally seen in thin tailed dogs – Vizslas, German Shorthaired Pointers, Weimaraners etc and in common with its name often seen after swimming, particularly in cold water.

Although it often looks serious, and can cause considerable distress to your dog it’ll only last a few days. A visit to the vet to get some painkillers to help them through those few days is a really good idea.

Limber tail occurs when the muscles at the tail root become sprained. A good comparison is if you tear a muscle. It hurts like hell but normally heals in. a few days. Your dig is exactly the sane.
