I’m sure every dog owner knows about chocolate and how it’s poisonous – the darker the chocolate the worse for your dog – there are a few others that may not be as well known. Its worth keeping an eye, especially with all the festivities going on, to make sure that none of these are eaten.
Cooked Bones.
Cooked bones splinter. At best a splintered bone in your dog’s mouth will lead to lots of discomfort for them and a very expensive vets trip for you. At worst if they swallow the splinters then they’ll cause damage to their digestive system.
Onions and Garlic
Both onions and garlic are toxic for dogs. Enjoy then yourself but dont feed then to your dog.
Grapes and Raisins.
Grapes are very toxic to dogs. There is no safe dose either. Raisins and other dried grape products serve to concentrate the toxin. Be aware that things such as mincemeat contain lots of dried gapes. Enjoy them but don’t share.
Human Medicines.
Some human medicines are toxic to dogs. Even those that aren’t are likely to be toxic in small doses are in human dosages.
Mouldy Foods.
Some foods we intentionally let mould build on like blue cheese and sometimes food just goes off. Our dogs find both types of mould toxic. Just dint lets them eat it.
