Canine Body Language Part 2- Displacement Behaviour.

Uncategorized

Way back in November I wrote a blog post about Canine Body Language – it’s taken me much longer than I’d intended to write part 2. On current form I guess part 3 will land around September, I do intend to write it sooner though.Time will tell if that will happen or not.

What is displacement behaviour?

Displacement behaviour is any behaviour a dog performs ahead of the action requested. (I hope that made some sort of sense). Displacement behaviour is often a dogs way of dealing with difficult or conflicting intstructions. At best, displacement behaviour can be thought of as our dog saying ‘Ive got this, just give me a moment’. At worst it can mean a dog thats highly stressed and not listening any longer.

It’s up to us.

To read what is causing our dogs to displace and work out a different approach to get the same results.

I know this is a little wooly, and Im sorry for that. The only real way to read and overcome displacement is to have the dog infant of you.
