Fireworks….again

Uncategorized

I know, I know it’s the second time in a couple of weeks Ive talked about this. It’s an important issue at this time of year. I’m not going to apologise for bringing it up again. If your pet is unlucky enough to be traumatised by them then you’ll know, all to well, just how distressing it can be. If you’re lucky enough to have a pet not worried bye them, then good, it’d still be good to follow some of the advice here so they stay unconcerned for years to come.

Some Practical Stuff.

OK, none of these are going to help get over the fear of fireworks. They may save you and them a large amount of distress though.

Walk them before dark if you can, if not skip that last walk altogether. One night won’t hurt either of you.

In case they do get scared and run off it’s always good idea to have made sure the details stored with their microchips are up to date.

When you take them out for their last wees. Go with them and keep them on a lead. Let them go and then head back inside.

Some Other Things To Try.

Play Taiko (Japanese) drums. You’ll easily find them on Youtube or Spotify and the low frequencies will help to balance out the fireworks noise.

Give them a safe space. It doesn’t really matter if thats curled up on the sofa with you, in their crate or wherever. As long as they feel safe. Thats the main thing.

Your dog, will love you forever for not going out this Weekend. Stay is with them, it’ll pay dividends.

For Next Year (& The Years After That)

Its a little to late to try and help your dog conquer their fears for this year, but thats not a reason not to try for next year. Youtube has some great videos to help you with just this. Remember keep them busy so the fireworks are background noise and don’t scare.
